Inspired by the nostalgic postcards of the Whakarewarewa guides, this piece draws from their romanticised poses and the ever-changing ideals of how Māori women have been represented over time. Adrienne reimagines this through a contemporary lens, celebrating the evolving image of wāhine Māori today.
Centred on the symbolism of the Hongi — the breath of life, the artwork speaks to connection, grounding, and reciprocity.
