Kōura Button Shirt
The Kōura Button Shirt features the rich Kōura “Gold” print — a design inspired by Adrienne and Hoete’s walk through the Sistine Chapel and their interpretation of 16th–17th century Baroque art through a Māori lens. Ornate, detailed, and unapologetically expressive, this print celebrates motif, adornment, and the power of visual storytelling.
Blending kōwhaiwhai with intricate Māori line work, the design draws clear parallels between Baroque opulence and traditional Māori patterning — both elevating the maker’s hand and honouring the artistry of repetition, detail, and symbolism.
All concepts were created by Adrienne Whitewood and Hoete, and lovingly brought to life by illustrator Kahira Shepherd.
