Waharua Kōpito Kākāriki/Pango Kāmeta & Pōtae Set (Emerald/Black Scarf)
Our much loved range called KĀKAHU TOITŪ has returned! This range is made in Aotearoa (spun, crafted, sewn). The fibre itself is Aotearoa inspired, utilizing Merino and Brushtail Possum. The Brushtail Possum , whose population has reached staggering proportions, are an introduced pest that decimates our native flora and fauna. Wearing environmentally friendly Possum knitwear gives you the opportunity to help with our fight to preserve New Zealand's fragile ecosystems.
The pattern throughout the range is called Waharua Kōpito. Inspired by self determination, the two mouths when placed in formation with the niho (teeth) represent the relationships we have each other and ourself. The line work and notches refer to us the people empowered in unity. Ki te kotahi te kākaho ka whati, ki te kāpuia e kore e whati - Alone we can be broken. Standing together we are invincible - Kīngi Tawhiao
